On July 4, 1982; Lisa was alone when she gave birth to a baby girl. The newborn was a little underweight but otherwise healthy. She also had a very strong set of lungs. As soon as the baby was placed in her arms, Lisa realized that she didn't have what it took to be a good mother. For the two days she was in the hospital, Lisa wrestled with her choices. Should she keep the baby and try, or give her up for adoption? It took the nurses bugging her for the baby to even be named. Sedona Ainsley Drake was put on the birth certificate, but when it came time to sign everything; no one was in the room. Lisa had made her decision and split before anyone could talk her out of it.
The only thing that kept Sedona out of foster care was the fact that a name had been listed as her father. Two weeks after her birth, Conner Chase was finally tracked down. He hadn't been that difficult to find and he agreed to take custody of the baby, even though he wasn't exactly in a place to care for a child. But there was no way he could turn his back on his flesh and blood. Once a paternity test was taken, her name was officially changed to Sedona Ainsley Chase. Conner honored the only decision Lisa ever made for her daughter.
Sedona, or Sedi as she was quickly coined by her father, was a quiet but alert baby. She liked being held, but only by certain people. She also preferred her father. A daddy's girl from the very start, she seemed to thrive in the chaotic existance her father had built around her. He was the Secretary for the Joker's Wild, a chaotic motorcycle club out of Bastrop, Texas. They lived in a constant climate of chaos and violence; but Sedi never saw it. She only saw a loving father and extended family that was there to help raise her.
Conner learned very quickly that his daughter was smart. She tested out of the first grade and Conner began to have high hopes for his daughter. But as she grew older, he realized that he was ill-equiped for a little girl. He had no idea what to do with her and was guilty of treating women in a less-than-stellar way. There was an almost constant stream of female faces coming through her house, teaching the young brunette that nothing lasted. There was no such thing as solid romance. But as she turned thirteen, one did seem to stick around.
Candice Johnson wanted more from Conner than he was willing to give. He didn't want to settle down and have a woman to answer to. Candice wanted the title of Old Lady and all the duties that came with it. She also tried to be a mother to Sedi. Sedi resisted, hating the woman and everything she was trying to bring into her life. One of the biggest life lessons for Sedi had come from her father; you don't force a man to love you and be faithful.
Candice didn't last long and Sedi moved on. She continued taking care of her father and being involved with the club. She went to school, but as high school loomed; she realized that she was going to have to figure her life out at some point. She was going to have to decide what she wanted to do with the rest of her life and what she wanted to be. She was also nervous about starting high school, but Conner knew that his daughter could take care of herself. The long history of phone calls from the principals had proved it. Sedi wasn't the type of girl to take shit or let anyone look down their nose at her.
Life seemed to choose her when she was seventeen. Conner didn't really try to police his daughter and often passed out drunk during club parties. So he wasn't around to stop her when she initially crossed paths with Owen Lloyd. He was sexy as hell and much older. He also didn't seem to care that she was a seventeen-year-old virgin. That one drunken night turned into a regular thing, until Sedi found herself pregnant at seventeen.
Terrified, the only person Sedi told at first was her father. He was pissed, until she told him that a Joker had gotten her pregnant. Namely the president's son. Knowing he couldn't go up against his president, he just told his daughter that she needed to either tell the guy, or she would be shipped off. Sedi weighed her options, hating that she was in a position where she looked like a girl trapping a Joker. But it was the exact opposite and she went to Owen with the plan of moving away. As soon as he learned that she was pregnant, he decided that she was moving in with him.
On January 19, 2001, amonths shy of her eighteenth birthday; Sedi became the mother of a baby boy. Owen and Sedi fought over her name before ultimately coming up with Sawyer Chase Lloyd. A paternity test gave Owen the peace of mind that the baby was his and they continued on as they had. They were a family, as unconventional as they were. Owen had a hell of a temper and Sedi didn't let anyone walk all over her. She didn't even care that their arguements sometimes came off violent. The only thing she asked was that his rage didn't turn on their som.
Once she turned eighteen, Sedi tried to get a job. She wasn't going to just sit around and be a burden to Owen. It wasn't fair to him and she was determined to make him want to keep her around. Their sex life was amazing and she knew she was in love with him, but she didn't want to admit it. She didn't want labels or to have a conversation that could potentially ruin everything. Three months after job hunting, she fell into the role of hostess at a local strip club not too far from the Joker's clubhouse.
At first, Owen believed that the mother of his child wouldn't last too long. Sedi liked working, but could she really make something out of a hostess gig? It was a running joke, but she had seen the look in his eyes every time he said it. She was now determined to prove him wrong and worked her way up to bartender. She was a damn good one and the owner, Rick Graham, took a big liking to her. For one; she made a killing in tips and knew how to flirt as well as any seasoned bartender. She also brought in customers who were determined to see her up on the stage. By the summer of 2009, Sedi had earned the title of manager. She was almost always on hand, having found her true place in the office. Everyone was a family, though there were a few times when she came to blows with an employee. Or patron, which circulated some pretty hilarious stories within the Joker community.
A lot of things changed in 2010. With her son growing bigger and more intelligent, Sedi worried about the world she was raising him in. She hoped that Sawyer was seeing a good view of the world, relationships, and family. In late June, she learned that she was pregnant for the second time. She didn't think a second pregnancy would really change things, but when she told Owen; she gave him an out. If he wanted to leave, he was free to. But he surprised her. Shortly before her birthday that year, Owen surprised her by asking her to become his old lady. She wasn't really sure why he had asked, but she had been acting like his old lady from the moment she had moved in. So she accepted, transitioning easily from the role of girlfriend to Old Lady. Conner shook his head at the move, but he supported his daughter. His health was also a little rough, thanks to a run gone bad. Two months after Sedi rose to the role of Old Lady, Conner was having to take more of a back seat within the club. His back was bothering him and getting on a Harley was becoming more and more difficult.
When he heard about the local strip club going up for sale, Conner stepped in and decided to give his daughter a push. He'd saved a hell of a lot of money and Bastrop needed the place. Namely the Jokers that usually filled the place to capacity. Conner got the money together and bought the place, closing the strip club down for several months before it reopened in the summer of 2012. Now the manager of The Diamond Back Door, Sedi realized at the end of the year that she was doing more around the club than her father was. But she still really liked her job and kept joking that she would someday grace the stage.
Life has settled down since all the major changes of 2011. She happily exists, not wanting for anything beyond what she already has. She knows better than to ask for more, worried that something will be taken away from her in the event she's greedy. But she does wish and hope that her life remains as it is. The constant state of chaos doesn't bother her, but she worries about the wear and tear on her son, who recently turned sixteen. She knows that eventually he'll prospect but in the meantime, she's enjoying life with her son. Sedi wonders what's going to happen with Owen, but the determination not to look too closely at things is too ingrained.
